Stellent takes Note of Lotus: Will that be Integration or Migration?

Want to see a CMS salesperson's smile droop? Tell them you are longtime Lotus Notes shop. Their new frown is well-taken: Notes does not have a strong history of playing well with other apps, even those from IBM. Now along comes Stellent -- who tries to have a can opener for every conceivable content format -- with a Notes integration toolset. We would caution that the "integration" architecture actually entails replicating the Notes database in the Stellent repository, something you probably only want to do on a public-facing site where the alternative is no Notes content at all (unless you roll the dice with Domino). But Stellent, of course, is strongest behind the firewall. There is another use for the integration module, though, as a migration tool from Notes to a completely Stellent-managed Intranet -- we think there's promise there...
