Microsoft to Target a Lower Tier

We have frequently pointed out that MS Content Management Server provides mid-market functionality at an upper-tier price ($125k out of the gate). Network World now reports that by the end of the year, Microsoft will unveil a much lower-priced "Standard Edition" for up to 15 users working on one website (via Rasool Rayani of Metalogix). If -- as the company hints -- the license fee drops to the $7-20k range, it could be very attractive financially. We remain a bit skeptical, however, of Microsoft's claim that the package is designed to run on only a 1-CPU machine...
