Managing Flash-driven Sites

Niche Web content management products continue to hit the marketplace. The latest -- designed to manage Flash-driven sites -- is "CMSMX," developed by the rather eponymous design firm, EGO7. Traditonal systems typically deal with Flash-displayed content via klugey text-file includes or by tasking an interactive designer to make all content changes. CMSMX helps you manage Flash templates and update Flash files. The product's own Flash interface leaves much to be desired and might not scale well for sites with more than 100 content items. CMSMX is more of an authoring and templating system rather than a comprehensive CMS. However, we think the niche here is real, and with more consumer brand websites migrating to Flash interfaces, other CMS vendors targeting that market might consider taking a page from EGO7...
