More clues on Google in the Enterprise

The Google Legacy, a new e-book by enterprise search guru and CMS Watch Contributing Analyst, Steve Arnold, puts Google under a microscope. Of particular interest is Steve's analysis of Google's infrastructure, called "the Googleplex." That part of the book is available as a free download. Google's carefully customized and highly-tuned infrastructure stack -- hardware, OS, web tools, network, etc. -- bodes well for developing additional applications. It makes me think though, that if Google expands its footprint in the enterprise space -- e.g., to develop content management or authoring tools -- it will come as a hosted service or (like its enterprise search product) an appliance. Ditto for any acquisitions stemming from its forthcoming cash infusion. Googleplex doesn't easily shrinkwrap.

Our customers say...

"I've seen a lot of basic vendor comparison guides, but none of them come close to the technical depth, real-life experience, and hard-hitting critiques that I found in the Search & Information Access Research. When I need the real scoop about vendors, I always turn to the Real Story Group."
