My colleague Apoorv and I had a very productive advisory session today with a longtime RSG subscriber, a global systems integration firm. The topic was trends in Portal and Web Content & Experience Management (WCXM) technologies.
In case you were curious, here are the four trends in WCXM we shared:
- Renewed focus on content (driven by mobile, digital marketing, etc.)
- WCXM vendors struggling with outbound digital marketing services
- Abdication at the very top end of the marketplace (not new, but still significant)
- Key differentiators persisting within vibrant mid tiers of the market
For each trend we shared some anecdotes based on customer activity we're seeing.
I recognize that WCXM is only one piece of the website puzzle for enterprises, but it remains a central piece, for sure. The risks for getting it wrong have never been higher.
