A Standard Web CMS for German Government
The German government has launched the first site managed by a new Web content management system, "Government Site Builder," which was built by a local integrator, "Materna," on top of a product from German CMS vendor CoreMedia. As part of "BundOnline 2005" the package will become a government standard. We think Web content management standards for eGovernment are a good thing. This particular approach has some rather...well...German touches: every German federal agency ultimately must use the product, and employ the same web design to boot. Other ideas seem quite practical, including a national competence center and knowledge-sharing about CMS.
