A 2-year sunset for Vignette V6

We pointed out 16 months ago that Vignette's own website delivers pages via V6 of the company's CMS product, with V7 running in the background for content management. This is still the case (check out this tell-tale V6 URL). But now their webmaster has a firm upgrade deadline, since we heard recently from the company that, "Vignette will discontinue maintenance for the Vignette V6 product line effective June 30, 2008." This represents pretty good news for existing users of V6, many of whom have looked at V7, looked again at all the complex logic in their V6 implementations, and decided to take a pass on upgrading. Now they have 2 years to decide what to do. We've heard anecdotally from several customers that they are considering alternate solutions, so this generous sunset period will come in handy. To be fair, Interwoven has the same problem -- customers resisting upgrade to the latest version -- for many of the same reasons...
