New research evaluation - MAM vendor TMD Mediaflex

We added a new vendor to our Media Asset Management evaluations line up: Transmedia Dynamics, commonly known as TMD. We take a hard look at the technology and architecture of TMD's Mediaflex software and assess its suitability for different usage scenarios.

Worth noting here is that beyond the traditional customers for MAM software in broadcast and media industries, of late TMD seems to be carving a niche for itself in the cultural heritage archives segment.  In this evaluation, we also take a look at how the TMD data models and metadata frameworks match up against use cases where you need to manage artifacts in multiple physical and technical formats.

Compared to the other enterprise MAM vendors like Avid, Dalet, Harris, and Vizrt that we evaluate, TMD is much smaller in size. But leveraging its roots in broadcast IT project implementations, TMD has been able to land new customers and expand beyond its home in the United Kingdom.

But the big question for prospective customers who're considering adding TMD to their shortlist, is of course, whether the company will be able to keep updating the Mediaflex platform for the new requirements in this multi-screen, multi-device age.

Our customers say...

"I've seen a lot of basic vendor comparison guides, but none of them come close to the technical depth, real-life experience, and hard-hitting critiques that I found in the Search & Information Access Research. When I need the real scoop about vendors, I always turn to the Real Story Group."
