At least sixteen established vendors now compete within the fast-growing enterprise cloud file-sharing marketplace, according to research released today by independent evaluation firm, Real Story Group.
Borne out of the consumer space, cloud-based file-sharing technology has emerged as an enterprise concern, with more organizations seeking to address employee needs pro-actively by licensing approved platforms.
Real Story Group’s Cloud File Sharing & Collaboration evaluation report critically reviews fourteen established players head-to-head, including Accellion, Alfresco, Box, Citrix, EMC/Syncplicity, Microsoft, Oxygen, SkyDox, and YouSendIt.
“Customers should understand that vendors may not share your notions of what ‘enterprise readiness’ truly means,” cautions RSG Senior Analyst, Apoorv Durga. “We found significant shortcomings in usability, access control, and in some cases, scalability.”
“Large enterprises tell us they want to reduce the chaos of employees using multiple cloud-based systems that typically lack administrative controls,” adds Tony Byrne, RSG President. “But there’s no magic bullet out there that will provide the perfect mix of user-friendliness and enterprise scalability.”
RSG’s Cloud File Sharing & Collaboration Report concludes with a set of twelve best practices for analyzing use cases and selecting the system that best fits your specific enterprise needs.
