ATG misses financial target

Earlier this month, ATG issued an unexpected announcement that it "expects to swing to a third-quarter loss and post weaker-than-expected revenue due to delays in licensing deals." We rarely discuss earnings, but our general rule for customers is: boring is good. In the emerging Web 2.0 bubble, it would seem that software vendors that miss expectation can get hit even harder. Stock valuations may be interesting to follow, but in a young and vibrant market where every vendor calls itself a "leader," of one kind or another, don't get yourself distracted from whether the product is actually a good fit for your particular needs.
