The new version of the Enterprise Search Report has updated profiles of the original 28 search vendors, plus a new entrant: SAP. That's right, SAP has rolled their own search engine, "TREX," which -- in addition to indexing the mysterious data structures within SAP implementations -- is increasingly aware of unstructured content elsewhere in the enterprise. Another major trend we see is the re-emergence of website-specific search as a key product segment, and the quite attractive value proposition that mid-tier and lower-cost vendors can offer here.
