Taking a page from its Plone stepchild, the Zope Corporation will create a non-profit foundation to manage the Zope application server and Content Management Framework (CMF) code going forward. Zope Corp has published an early discussion draft of a foundation charter. As Seth Gottlieb points out, creating a foundation is a good way for a project to become more officially disconnected from a single sponsor, which is important for broad community support. Another benefit is the potential for more open setting and enforcement of better code standards for the myriad products and modules written under the project. With both Plone and Zope, the poor quality of many add-on products sometimes tarnishes the overall "brand" of the larger project.

"I've been using the The Web CMS Research and I have to say that the quality of the analysis is flawless. How your team not only gets beneath the surface of CMS products but also highlights the good, bad, and ugly in very readable research is nothing short of miraculous."
