The xml-dev listserv saw a very funny post in the middle of a running REST-vs-SOAP battle where both sides were using Monty Python sketches to score points (and Charlie Wood added a nice picture here). Big ontologies have their place; but on the web, simple and lightweight almost always wins. The same could be said for intra-enterprise content integration. Yes, you should be trying to build enterprise-wide taxonomies and thesauri, but don't let that stop you in the meantime from also building content management systems that just work...
