WYSIWYG Editing in Firefox

Concerned about Internet Explorer (MSIE) security, among other things, some enterprises are shifting to Mozilla Firefox. Firefox is a nifty browser, but for those using WYSIWYG widgets within Web CMS systems -- either Java applets, ActiveX controls, or Javascript+DHTML variants -- switching browsers brings risks and uncertainty. One widget supplier, Belus Technology of Toronto, Canada, has recently come out with a special Firefox version of its ActiveX-based editor control, using Mozilla's rather clever scripting API for plugins. Like all WYSIWYG tools, you'll want to test any new version carefully, with new content, and by pasting in unstructured Word text, by editing existing files, and so forth. We expect other tool makers to support Firefox soon as well, using Mozilla's "extensions" paradigm as well as its API facilities for things like image editing, version-compare, and other editorial niceties...
