ECM TALK - A New Podcast Series

Before speaking at industry events I often post a blog asking people to come along and say hello in person. In London a few months back James Lappin did just that, and though I knew of James as an Records Management (RM) expert by reputation, I had not actually met him in person.  Our brief meet was such that we shook hands and agreed to continue the conversation further.  The end result of those conversations is ECM Talk, a series of podcasts available via iTunes.

These share with listeners the fact that industry experts don't always agree, and that this chaotic world we call information management is at times just that, chaotic. In the podcast pairing that launches the series, James and I discuss RM together, and in the second we explore Collaboration with friend and peer Angela Ashenden of MWD Advisors.

I must confess that my original hope was that we would keep the recordings to no more than 10 minutes each, as I doubted anyone would want to listen for any longer than that. Firmly over-ruled by James, and having listened to the end result, I have no qualms in admitting I was wrong.  Though there is no doubt that 50 minutes of kitchen table chatter on information management is solely for the cognoscenti, it is nonetheless a big world and I figure there are enough information and record managers out there to give the recordings a decent audience.

So download and enjoy, but no mail please telling me that I over-use the word absolutely and that my accent drifts between Yorkshire, London, and New England (I quite evidently do and it quite evidently does). Mail though is much encouraged on whether you like the podcasts or not, and even better discussion and pithy feedback is much appreciated if the recordings give you food for thought.

Since James is in London and I am in Boston, this will be an occasional rather than regular series for sure, but I hope it's one that you find worthwhile.
