Updated Web CMS evaluations spotlight mid-market .NET vendors

2-Jun-2010

This week we updated a slew of Web Content Management vendor evaluations. Over the past two quarters we've touched every vendor review in one way or another, so this latest update officially represents "Version 19.0" of our WCM evaluations.

With the release of SharePoint 2010, we've paid special attention to .NET-based systems that compete / cooperate with Microsoft, such as DotNetNuke, Ektron, EPiServer, GOSS, Kentico, Sitecore, Telerik, and (forthcoming later this month) Umbraco.

In today's press release my colleague Adriaan Bloem observes:

"A year ago we saw most of the mid-market Web CMS vendors working to integrate with SharePoint. Now increasingly they’re looking to challenge SharePoint more aggressively, and -- perhaps more importantly -- compete intensely with each other."

We also conclude that the decline (RedDot) and pending demise (Alterian CMC/Immediacy) of some Microsoft-oriented systems represent exceptions in an otherwise quite vibrant Web CMS mid-market -- a market segment that also includes viable SaaS and open source alternatives.

Web Content Management Report looks at... Publishing and Deployment Services in SharePoint 2010

"In SharePoint, publishing strictly works one way; you cannot do reverse publishing from target to source. This is okay for traditional publishing, but this may become a problem if your site has user-generated content that must be published back to the staging environment..."

Our Customers Say

"This excellent research has saved weeks of work reviewing the marketplace to enable a tender to be sent out to just a handful of potential vendors in record time. Well done."
