I am really pleased to announce that today our Enterprise Portals Certificate Education Course goes live.
My first sight of a portal was from PC Docs in 1999 -- and I can remember thinking, "Who on earth would want to see weather updates, the news, their e-mail, and access corporate documents all in one place?" Well, it seems like rather a lot of people wanted exactly that, and enterprise portals are now a part of our web existence.
While your firm may not label it an "enterprise portal" project -- many intranet/extranet and internet implementations involve portal technology, or at the very least portal concepts. Whether assembled via Web Parts, Portlets, or Widgets, portal technology plays a central role in today's web experience.
Yet portals remain among the least understood areas of today's web technologies. Hardly surprising when one considers that portals can be seen as anything from simple dashboard interfaces to full-grown integration platforms.
So I hope that this course will help clarify things a little, enabling you to make the most of this powerful technology.
